Georgia Antonopoulou and Ekaterina Pannebakker, members of the European Civil Justice Centre, organised a very interesting seminar on Building Global Competitiveness in Commercial Conflict of Laws at the University of Birmingham on 14 May 2016. The seminar brought together academics, practitioners and students discussing developments at international commercial courts in a number of countries, in commercial conflict of laws, litigation and arbitration ten years after the Brexit vote. Xandra Kramer presented on third party litigation funding in the EU, the Netherlands and the UK. Masood Ahmed delved into recent developments in arbitration in the England & Wales.

This is the first of two seminars resulting from a collaboration and grant obtained from the University of Birmingham and Leiden University. The second seminar will take place at Leiden University on 18 June.
